Flic en Flac (west coast)

Explore the Area

Flic en Flac is one of Mauritius’ best-known coastal villages. Its long white-sand beach, lined with casuarina trees, attracts both local residents and visitors. Come for golden sunsets, weekend beach picnics and lively evenings.

Coastal Activities

A reef shelters the lagoon, but swimming depends on local conditions and advice on site. The area is also known for scuba diving, with sites such as the underwater cave called La Cathédrale nearby. At weekends, local families and music bring a lively atmosphere to the beach.

Food and Drink

Food stalls along the beach sell Mauritian snacks, including samosas and kebabs. The coastal road has restaurants ranging from Italian pizzerias to seafood grills. Flic en Flac also has bars and nightclubs open late into the evening.

Things to See and Do

Relax under the casuarina trees, hire a pedal boat or take a glass-bottom boat trip. Casela Nature Parks is a short drive away, with safari and wildlife activities.

Where to Stay

Accommodation ranges from large resorts such as Sugar Beach and La Pirogue to self-catering apartments and villas.

Getting Around

Much of the village can be explored on foot. For trips further afield or a ride back after an evening out, Pallo Taxi provides local transport, late-evening hotel transfers and airport pickups and drop-offs.
