Belle Mare (east coast)

White sand and the east coast

"A quieter setting for watching the sunrise."

Belle Mare (east coast)

Explore the Area

Belle Mare, on the east coast, is known for long stretches of white sand. Sunrise brings golden light across its turquoise lagoon. The area feels quieter and more secluded than the busy north.

Coastal Activities

The large lagoon is sheltered by coral reefs. Swimming and snorkelling depend on local conditions and advice on site. Parasailing offers views across the water, while divers can explore the marine life around the Passe de Belle Mare drift-dive site.

Food and Drink

Although the village is quiet, the coast has hotel restaurants that welcome outside visitors. For a more local experience, visit the public beach at weekends, when Mauritian families gather for picnics and food vendors sell snacks beneath the casuarina trees.

Things to See and Do

Belle Mare has championship golf courses, including The Links and The Legend. Families can visit Splash N Fun Leisure Park. Nearby, Sagar Shiv Mandir at Poste de Flacq is a Hindu temple set beside the water.

Where to Stay

The east coast is known for spacious resorts, including One&Only, Constance and Lux*. These properties have extensive grounds and beach settings.

Getting Around

Belle Mare is spread out and some distance from the main towns, so walking outside the resorts is not always practical. Pallo Taxi provides transport for visitors staying on the east coast, including day trips to the north or south with a driver.
